Today in American Literature we continued our poetry analysis of Langston Hughes poems. The poem today was called “Mother to Son,” in which I really I enjoyed reading through and talking about the overall meaning to these poems. The biggest literary device that stood out to me was the Allegory. The physical item was the crystal and non crystal staircase but there was also another, deeper meaning. I took spring break as a relaxing re-set for myself so I could be prepared for the end of the year. The break started off with Easter, although my only family in town was my dad. We met with family friends and ate a nice Easter dinner. The next part of the break consisted of my best friend, my dad, and I going to the beach for two nights. The beach was very nice even though it was crowded, but there were a lot of highlights. Some of these highlights were that I did some shopping and I saw some friends I haven’t seen since middle school. I spent the final half of the break relaxing and doing self care. The break went really well for me, I’m sad to be back but I’m ready to get back to work. I am also very excited for summer!
